Tracey Miller is an Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture. Before joining the Landscape Architecture Department, she began her career at Stimson Studio, where she was involved in a variety of public and private sector projects working on ecologically sensitive sites. That experience launched her on a professional path, working in collaboration with environmental and wetland scientists on ecologically sensitive coastal sites throughout New England. Her teaching philosophy centers on sustainable landscape architecture practices that promote community resilience and ecological biodiversity. Her primary research interests include community environmental planning and sustainable landscape architecture, with a focus on green infrastructure and low-impact development. Her doctoral research employed geospatial analytics to identify connections between socio-ecological systems and biological outcomes, intended to inform riparian stewardship and decision-making at the interface of wetland management, landscape architecture, and town planning in Connecticut.
She holds a PhD. in Landscape Architecture from the University of Connecticut, a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Kentucky. She is a licensed landscape architect, certified by the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards. Current course commitments at UK include LA Design Studio II, Introductory Geospatial Analysis for Land Applications, and Professional Development II.
