Dr. Elijah Wilson is a scholar-practitioner committed to advancing the integration of research, education, and community engagement within the land-grant mission of the University of Kentucky. His work focuses on bridging the gap between theory and practice in the fields of public administration, economic development, program evaluation, volunteer development, policy analysis, youth development, and organizational development.
As the Extension Agent for 4-H Youth Development in Cumberland County, Dr. Wilson designs and implements evidence-based programs that foster leadership, civic engagement, and workforce readiness among youth.
In addition to his academic and Extension responsibilities, Dr. Wilson has served in numerous community leadership roles, including President of the Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the Burkesville–Cumberland County Industrial Development Authority. In these capacities, he has led initiatives that secured state and federal grants, supported small business development, and advanced rural economic resilience. He also co-founded River Festivus, a regional event designed to promote tourism and community pride, featuring nationally recognized performing artists.
Dr. Wilson holds a Doctor of Education (EdD) and a Master of Public Administration (MPA), has completed a certification in economic development, and is currently completing coursework toward the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) credential. His research and professional practice reflect a commitment to developing leadership capacity, fostering innovation, and strengthening the civic and economic infrastructure of rural Kentucky communities.
